Duties of a medical scribe includes : 

1. Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR). 
2. Ensure that all patient information is documented in real time. 
3. Ensure that the patient’s medical record is complete and up-to-date. 
4. Assist the physician with patient care by providing medical history, medications, allergies, and other necessary information. 
5. Transcribe physician orders for laboratory tests, diagnostic tests, medications, and other treatments. 6. Schedule patient appointments, tests, and other follow-up care. 
7. Ensure that all physician orders are entered into the EMR in a timely manner. 
8. Stay abreast of changes in medical terminology and coding. 
9. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all patients. 
10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other projects as needed.
